Betsy has been teaching general music to preschool, elementary, and middle school students in the DC metropolitan area for over 25 years. She currently teaches at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in Washington DC. Betsy holds a Bachelor of Music from James Madison University as well as a Master of Fine Arts from George Mason University. She holds an Orff Schulwerk certification and has been involved in teaching other teachers this music education approach for the past fifteen years. Betsy enjoyed studying abroad for a year at the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria. While in Austria, she joined a community choir which met weekly and performed a Handel Mass with a local orchestra. She loves to swing dance in her spare time and has had a few gigs with local small jazz ensembles and big bands in the DC area.
“As I am partial to music from the jazz and big band era it was such a pleasure to be invited to sing with Caritas NoVa last spring for their American Songbook/Jazz concert. What a way to begin my time with this special group!”
